Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 17, 2026
This site is built on a simple principle: we collect as little about you as possible, and we protect the little we have. Because this community discusses government conduct and accountability, we treat your privacy as a safety issue, not a formality.
1. Anonymous Participation
You may register and participate under a pseudonym. You are never required to provide your legal name, and we recommend that you do not. Your username is the only identity other members see.
2. What We Collect
When you register, we collect a username, an email address, and a hashed password. The email address is used only for account functions, such as password resets and notifications you opt into. You may use an anonymous or dedicated email address; we do not verify your real-world identity.
3. What We Do Not Do
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your information to anyone.
- We do not run advertising networks or cross-site behavioral ad tracking.
- We do not build commercial profiles of you.
- We do not require, request, or store your real-world identity.
4. Responding to Legal and Government Requests
We will not voluntarily disclose member information. We require valid legal process — a properly issued subpoena, court order, or warrant — before disclosing any non-public information, and we will object to requests that are overbroad, improper, or unlawful. Where we are legally permitted to do so, we will make reasonable efforts to notify an affected member before responding to a request for their information, so they may seek to protect their rights.
5. Cookies and Analytics
This site uses session cookies that are required for login and preference cookies that remember your display settings. For traffic measurement, we use a self-hosted analytics instance that runs on our own server and is under our sole control. Your analytics data stays privately contained on our own infrastructure and is not shared with Google or any other third-party analytics or advertising company. We do not use cross-site tracking cookies.
6. Security
The site is served exclusively over encrypted HTTPS, and passwords are stored only as salted hashes. No system is perfectly secure. For maximum protection, use a private/incognito browser session, a unique anonymous email address, and consider a VPN or the Tor Browser.
7. Private Messages
Private messages between members are stored on the server in order to deliver them and are not shared with other members. They are not end-to-end encrypted; do not treat any forum feature as a secure channel for highly sensitive information.
8. Data Retention and Deletion
Your account data is retained while your account is active. You may request deletion of your account at any time, and we will honor it promptly. Some content may remain in anonymized form where removing it would break discussion history.
9. Minors
This site is intended for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from minors.
10. Contact
For privacy questions or data requests, contact the operator through your account settings or at the contact address listed on the site.
